Landslide

Alright, alright, alright

My comp got the gripa on Monday (basically the cold, but mexico version and worse), so he was pretty much dying. He used up 5 rolls of toilet paper blowing his nose. If you know the germ-a-phobe side of me, you would know that those were some pretty uncomfortable days. I started to get it too, but i just took some NyQuil and the next morning i was so tired i could hardly move, but i didn't get too sick.

On Wednesday we had intercambios. The zone leader came to my area and not too much to report. After we invited everyone we taught to be baptized and they all said no i think he realized a little bit better that were not just bad missionaries.

This week i kind of got a little bit tired of trying to teach people who always try to avoid us or say they are busy, so we went looking for some in-actives. We had a lesson with the bishops brother and his wife and it was such a good lesson. I love teaching people who actually want to listen. They have gone through some pretty hard stuff. They got their kids taken away by the wife's parents and the thing was it wasn't even by legal means. The wife's parents just decided they wanted to be the parents of her kids so they took them and they don't let them visit her. Mexico is a lawless land.

On Saturday we finally had a real missionary correlation. The elders quorum president came, the relief society president came, the first counselor in the bishopric came, the ward missionaries came, and the ward mission leader came. I almost fell out of my chair when they all showed up i was so shocked. We had a really good correlation and hopefully we will be able to work more with them to go through with the plans that we made.

At church on Sunday i was asked to give the classic talk on missionary work out of the blue, but when they announced that i would be giving the talk they said my first name over the pulpit. I wanted to chew them out so hard over the pulpit in front of the audience, but i swallowed my pride and let it go. Then i proceeded to talk about how no one goes to the celestial kingdom unless they participate in missionary work (George Albert Smith, look it up).

We finally got to visit the Serrano family on Sunday night. We had been teaching him like 2 months ago, but dropped them because they weren't progressing then he called me 3 weeks ago and said he wanted to be baptized with his family. We went and we had a good lesson with them. Hopefully they can find it within themselves to get married so they can get baptized.

And to finish off the week. Last night a dog followed us around for literally 3 hours. When we went into the appointment with the Serrano family it waited outside for us for an hour until we left. Then every time we knocked a door and someone would answer the dog would just go running into their house. If i didn't know better i would say its a nawhal (shapeshifter).

You can take the kid away from the record collection, but you cant take the record collection away from the kid. My comps psychiatrist had a bunch of records just sitting there, so i went through them and left with The blues brothers, Fleetwood Mac (the title in honor of this record), Paul McCartney, Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Now just to get them home...

This Week in Review

Ok, lets see, first off Elder Bucio went home on Thursday. I had to pack up all of his things Monday night and then i talked to him on the phone Tuesday and Wednesday nights and he was sent back Thursday. I don't know anything about when he will come back, so we will see.

On the bright side i guess is that all of the members missed us. When we visited the Flores family they were all super happy to see us and another member took us out to get tacos too. I had told the bishop what had happened and i thought that he would tell the ward members, but he never did so everyone thought we had just been kidnapped or something.

I held my first "district council," so i guess that is a milestone or something. It went fine. We had two training's this week. One in Puebla on Friday with all of the DLs in the mission and one on Saturday with the DLs in the zone. On the way back from Puebla on Friday my comp bought bus tickets for a bus with only standing room, so i fell asleep standing 3 times and almost fell 3 times. I wish i could have seen myself falling over, waking up, and catching myself from the third person.

We had some good lessons this past week and we were expecting to have around 5 people in sacrament meeting. We are teaching an 18 year old girl named Diana and she is doing awesome. She had read both the pamphlet and the Book of Mormon when we went back to visit her. So, we had her and a bunch more people lined up to come to church on Sunday. We had talked to her and her mom the day before and all was good. Then when we called Diana Sunday morning she said her mom wasn't letting her go to church. Then literally every other person we had invited said they couldn't come. Then we got to church and the 2 people who are always sure to come didn't come. We had 0 people in sacrament meeting and i think that's the maddest i've ever been on my mission. But, then i had a little chat with the man upstairs and basically realized that i had done literally everything in my power, so i felt a little better. But then the relief society president and all the sisters got mad because we were in the hospital (i called them all and told them that we wouldn't be coming, not much more i could do), but sometimes the Lord just wants you to be even more humble so now next week i'm going to apologize personally to the whole organization that my comp almost died and we couldn't make it.

The best thing about Sunday though was that i got to do some baptismal interviews for 3 people some other elders in my district are going to baptize. i really enjoyed it and it was awesome talking to people about how the gospel has changed their lives. Also cool doing baptism interviews considering that i'm not a bishop (now i'm the common judge of Israel).

Everythings is the Same...

Basically since i last wrote on Thursday everything is the same.
On Friday i slept and studied.
On Saturday i slept and studied.
On Sunday i slept and studied. We didn't even get to go to church :(
Today things changed a little. We got our changes and i'm district leader with my new comp Elder Lyles from California. He might know more about movies than i do which is impressive. When i left this morning i'm pretty sure Elder Bucio was getting another hernia. I still don't know what's going on with him. As of right now he might be in the offices for a week and then go home or he might just go home, but i have no clue whats going unfortunately. I'm pretty bummed because he's been one of my best companions, if not the best, so i'm just hoping that i will be able to finish his training.
Other than that things are the same. Hopefully i will be able to find the people we have been teaching so we can get the area to progress after being gone for more than a week. Side note: If its hard going back to real life after vacations i think its even harder to go back to missionary work after "vacations." Sleeping and studying all day was nice let me tell you. Oh well, shall we not go in so great a cause?

Hospital Angeles

I've been out of the game for too long i don't know what to say.

I don't even remember what we did last week, but it was a good week i think. We completed all of our goals and we found some awesome new people. My companion also had his first lesson in a house sitting on a couch so that was a highlight.

I remembered more stuff after writing the stuff below. I forgot i cut my foot because i haven't been walking a lot. My foot still hurts, but i think its done bleeding. The twins we were teaching watched anti church videos and now they have basically lost the spirit and stopped progressing 100%.  They're not praying, they're not reading, and they don't have the desire to know if the Book of Mormon or church is true.

Then on Saturday my comps nerve was hurting again, so we went back to the hospital. We were originally planning on only staying until Sunday morning and going back to our area, but boy were we wrong. We were in the emergency room until like 2 am just waiting to go up into a room. So we finally got into a room and we slept. The next day my comp got an MRI and they found out that he had 2 hernias. So, we had to wait until Monday to see what the doctor would say he had to do. On Monday they said he had to get surgery, so we were waiting to see if it would get approved by the mission department, the 12, and the first presidency. He got permission and on Tuesday he went in for his surgery and it all went good. We were excited because he didn't have to go home to get the surgery. He came out all drugged up and when i showed him that they had only given him something way small to eat he got so mad it was hilarious. He said he wasn't asleep during the surgery, they only paralyzed him from the back down. On Wednesday he was just recovering the whole time and today we left the hospital. The hospital was a good time. Saw some movies, slept a lot, I only have one change of underwear, ate a lot of hospital food.

Now for the bad news. Today the President said that Elder Bucio is going to be in the offices for a week and go home for one change before coming back. I don't know what i'll be doing, but training was fun while it lasted.
Sorry for the lame letter. My brain is melted. I don't know what's going on anymore.
