Just Another Day in Mexico

Hola
I made it through a week and a half without a pday and I have learned two things. The days drag on for ever, but the weeks are fast and Mexico City has the worst traffic ever.

There isn't a lot to write because everything has been pretty much the same everyday. The food isn't bad, but were in class for around 4-5 hours between each meal. The classes mainly focus on teaching and language and we just alternate between the two.

Last Wednesday we got to go to the Mexico City temple and that was really cool. Its built kind of like an ancient mayan temple and just driving by it you hardly see it, but once you get inside the gates its really big. The temple isn't that far away from the ccm, but since the traffic is so bad here, its takes more than an hour to get there.

Today we went to the Mexico consulate to do some Visa stuff and it was weird seeing people from the outside world. Here in the ccm everyone is around the same age (even the instructors), so we are all used to seeing either people our age or the old ccm presidency.

Our dorm is always dirty because the two latino companions we have are always shedding hair everywhere. They're really fun to talk to, but they are way hairy.

We have had some really good devotionals the past two weeks about being dedicated missionaries and one devotional by Gary E. Stevenson of the quorum of the 12 about developing Christ like attributes. Its nice to always be learning, but its pretty exhausting because we have 16 hour days where we just go, go, go.

Everything is good in the ccm. Having been outside it and into Mexico city a couple of times, I have realized how much of a paradise it is. Everywhere in Mexico City is falling apart, covered with trash, and dirty, but in the ccm its peaceful, everything is clean, and there are trees and flowers everywhere.

Sorry for the lack of funny stories ill try to get some more in next week. Its hard to write them in a way that would be funny to read so ill work on that.
Oh I also broke my watch and lost my waterbottle, so if anyone comes to Mexico soon I need those.

Slow Down you Crazy Child

First week in the ccm is done and its been pretty crazy. First off the keyboards in mexico are way weird so thats the reason for any spelling and grammar mistakes.
Everyone who goes to the ccm says that the pizza you get the first night you get in is the best costco pizza ever. I want to put that rumor to rest. What I ate the night of october 10th was literal cardboard masquerading as costco pizza. however, the rest of the food here has been pretty good and there hastnt been anything too weird.
My companions name is Elder Mackey and we get along really well (the best out of anyone in our district). Hes almost as funny and guapo as me so its a really good fit. The district we are in is only elders, no hermanas. Our district has gotten super close (probably because we use a lot of our study time messing around).
Elder Mackey and I are rooming with two other guys from our district, elder Bradford and elder Wilcox and two spanish speaking elders, one from Argentina and one from Mexico. The Spanish speaking elders are so much fun to talk to and they are way funny. One of them really likes the "Gringas" at the ccm and the other loves Queen so we usually sing a couple of songs before we go to bed. Elder Bradford is pretty crazy and I have some weird stories that im going to be able to tell after the mission, ill just leave it at that.
We got to the ccm Tuesday night, had classes on Wednesday and then on Thursday we had to teach our first investigator. We hardly knew any spanish (i still dont know any) and we had to teach a full 15 minute lesson. Elder Mackey and I suspected he was fake, but he was such a good actor it was hard to tell, but after our first lesson they told us he was fake, so that was kind of a relief, but we have been teaching him every day since.
Learning Spanish is pretty hard. It is harder than I thought it would be, but at the same time im not stressed about learning it because I know I wont be the first missionary to not learn spanish on his mission. Its a lot of memorization though so that is the hardest part.
After last night though, we were no longer the new missionaries. When we got here on the 10th, all the older missionaries were so full of themselves telling us how "you just have to make it to Sunday and then it gets better" they acted like they knew everything. so, last night (17th) I was finally able to be the cocky missionary who knew everything /s
The spirit is so strong here in the ccm. When i slow down during any part of the day I can really feel the spirit. We had a fireside about the atonement and watched the easter mormon messages and it just confirmed to me again that Jesus Christ really is our savior and he died for us and his spirit left his body, but on the third day his spirit returned and he rose and now he lives to bless our lives.
Later today we are going to the Mexico City temple, so thats really exciting.
My Pday is on wednesdays, so if you email me thats when I can read and respond to them for one hour.
Thats all for this week adios.
